Lisa Milliman Owner/Artist of Dicentra Designs
It was in May of 2002, at a conference of the Northwest Regional Spinners that I met Lisa. I looked across the hall, and saw the most glorious mohair and wool sweater I had seen in years. I raced over to her booth, insisted that she model it for me, and then introduced myself! I learned that not only had she created the pattern, she had also hand dyed and hand knit the sweater herself.
Spectacular. We have enjoyed getting to know Lisa more each year since then, and have shared many conferences, laughs and creative energies. Her dry wit and astute sense of color have led her to create her own business entitled Dicentra Designs. We are so pleased to now share with you the beauty of her hand dyed yarn and fiber.
Lisa has been a knitter and crocheter since her childhood in New Hampshire. In 1985, after becoming fascinated with weaving, she built her own counter balance loom in a woodworking class! After moving to Oregon in 1995, Lisa says she began weaving in earnest. "Color has always been a passion", states Lisa, "I love to sample the colors of nature when I am hiking with my dogs, Sweeney and BeBe". Lisa still works in a "day job" as a natural resources planner, manages her own farm with 8 llamas and still makes time to dye and knit.
Treat yourself to her distinctive colorways!
